Extreme Blur Photography: The 2012 Atlantic Antic, Joyce Dade (c) 2012

The Atlantic Antic was just as beautiful as ever and if you were they, you will know exactly what I mean by that.  The weather was perfect and people from the four corners of the world were on hand for a wonderful time.

Our biggest street festival in Brooklyn was alive with color and the full range of diversity and ethnicity imaginable, human and canine alike.

Dogs were everywhere and I was there with my beloved pup as well.  My dog scavenged for food and found quite a bit as he does every year although, he had to compete with the other dogs there with just the same objective, find that dropped hotdog, get it down and find another before the competition does.  Such is the nature of competition and a dog's dream on a day like the Atlantic Antic in Brooklyn.

We arrived a bit on the late side not realizing it was the day of the festival, we wandered around quite a bit before returning to the bat cave but then, I decided to return again.  It was too beautiful to visit just once this year so we made our way back not much later in the afternoon, since we are walking distance from Atlantic Avenue.

My dog found many morsels of food along the way dropped by who knows who.  They were waiting there for him and in his mind, I am sure it must have seemed magical to him too.

I imaged the event as best as I could in blur and conventional perspective, while handling my dog on the leash which was tricky.  I did not want my rather large pitbull mix to lodge behind someone unaware and be the cause of any accident.  God forbid.  It was all the more exciting squeezing through so many, many people passing by and sometimes with dogs at their side too.

I had to make sure my guy did not instigate or involve too intimately with any possible rivals so it was hold the camera in one hand, keep your balance and keep the dog as close as possible without tripping or tripping anyone else up.

It was magical.

Yes, the Atlantic Antic this year was magical.  More fun than a barrel of monkeys and more interesting than a trip to the local discoteque.  People swirling everywhere, great food, friendly neighbors, vendors selling something for everyone and of course, nary an argument or bad vibe was felt during the entire time we were there.

We have never experienced bad actors or bad behavior at the Atlantic Antic, each year it only grows more brotherly, more beautiful and more fun to walk the walk with the tens of hundreds of others and to enjoy every minute of it.

Blur Photography: Boardwalk Dancing Under the Stars at Coney Island, Joyce Dade (c) 2012

A night scene image taken at Coney Island after dark on the boardwalk.  I had forgotten the fact that every weekend actually starting in the daytime and running through the evening, DJs mix music for spectators and dancers alike on the boardwalk.  It is a special event that takes place each weekend and there is still time left in the season for those who are interested in being entertained live and free as a bird to make your way down to the boardwalk to enjoy some of the very best dancers around.  All ages, all races, all ethnic groups, all persuasions attend and dance, expressing their joy of life and it's a beautiful thing.  See you there!

Gallery Hijinks, a New Platform for Artists

Doing research these days I came across a curated gallery for artists you may be interested in contacting called, "Gallery Hijinks."  It looks like a nice platform for artists and although it is hectic for me these days, I will look into their setup hopefully as early as today and try to get back to you on what I think about their organization.

I am also linking their submissions link in case you are interested further.
